Redesign of pipelines for naval engine power supply

An owner from the Far East asked us to improve the air flow to the engine room, three floors below deck, to optimize the operation of diesel engines that suffered from little oxygen, resulting in very high temperatures in the engine room, little comfortable for operators, and low propulsion returns.

After the rough reconstruction of the conduit structure through the few available drawings, a site visit allowed us to refine the three-dimensional model making it completely equal to the real, taking into account the extensive changes implemented during the years of navigation.

After the first CFX analysis we were able to quantify the path of the incoming air flow rate, evaluate the possible changes and analyze some corrective solutions. Finally, the combination of those that guaranteed better results has led us to confront the manufacturer to determine the final geometry approved by both parties.
